I am quite full from tonight's dinner. I purchased locally made saimen noodles at Costco to make a Japanese inspired dish: Miso Ramen. Here is the recipe I used from Steamy Kitchen.
After watching many episodes of anime series called "Naruto", I recalled many scenes where the characters at a noodle house. Naruto, a spunky and energetic ninja, absolutely LOVES ramen and always made the noodle dish seem tantalizing. So, in my first attempt, it was decent. I think I'll skip out on the bamboo shoots next time. They were quite pungent in smell and in my opinion, did not contribute to the flavor of the dish in any way. The shoots were quite bland.
Pretty much anything can be "ramenized". The combinations are endless; won tons, bok choy, cabbage, bbq chicken, beef strips, broccoli, spam, seaweed....the list goes on.
Will I make this again the in the near future? Probably, but perhaps try out a different broth base. Anyways, cheers to different cultural food experiences!
