Finding Inspiration


Last month, I think I suffered a plateau in food interest (something that should be impossible, right?). There was about a two week span where cooking just seemed like a chore and I couldn't conjure up anything creative to save our family's palate. So much so, I cannot recall anything memorable I really cooked. But rather than working against this dull food period in my life, I just went with it. It was alright that I went to Costco to get a prepared meal, my life wasn't going to end when I picked up Korean food take out....breakfast for dinner? Sure, why not! However, such a food habit had to end sometime. I felt like I wasn't properly taking care of my family or even me.

After the natural end to this hiatus, I came back to the cooking world to that pleased our palates. The first dish I made was a new recipe: Shrimp Tacos (marinated in red wine and other seasonings) with roasted corn and avocado lime salsa. My family and I enjoyed a home cooked meal that was truly delicious.

For today's dinner (apologies for no pictures!), I last minute decide we were going to have a surf'n' turf dinner. I prepared crab legs steamed in white wine, claims in a garlic white wine sauce, roasted artichokes and crusty French bread...ALL dipped in melted garlic butter. I covered the table in plastic garbage bags which made for an easy cleanup.
