Rhubarb and Bad Thai Food

I will try not to stray in multiple food thoughts during the post...no promises though.

One brand new recipes I successfully tried yesterday was Chef Anne Burrell's Strawberry Rhubarb Crisp. If you are already a fan of the strawberry/rhubarb combination, you will enjoy it. Rhubarb by itself is a tart tasting root. Combined with strawberries and sugar, you get a balance between sweet and tart. My husband liked it, I liked it, but my daughter...not so much. Perhaps it was the rhubarb she didn't like.

I'll probably add this to my spring time recipes collection. As far as fruit crisps are concerned, apple crisps are for the fall/winter seasons. However, being here in Hawaii...I guess there is never a need to cook foods that are hearty for the cold winter months. One of many things I miss about the mainland, cold seasons. It truly has affected the feeling towards fall/winter foods. I don't get that warm and fuzzy feeling when ordering my annual pumpkin spice latte. It's more the through of "ugghh....it's too warm to be drinking this, but this is what I do for the fall!"

One last thing I'll share for today, the dreadful regret of spending money at an eatery of some sort only to receive sub-mediocre food that shouldn't even be served to the public. The culprit: Thai Mixed Plate at the Pearl Highlands Center. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE FOR THAI FOOD. Worst Thai food ever. My husband and I judge Thai restaurants according to their pad thai and curry. Their pad thai was heavy laden with their sauce mixture, strictly noodles sans any sort of vegetables and a sticky, pile mess. Who knows how long their curries were sitting under the heat lamp. It bugs me to no end when owners of these so called attempts at restaurants lack the desire to serve good quality food. This place should be ashamed to even call their food Thai....I don't even know what it was really.

Anyways, more vittle thoughts to come next week :).
